Traveling by Bus or Aircraft to Nayarit

YO!

I prefer to drive. There is so much to see, I need to be able to stop and enjoy anytime I want. Yeah, and I stop a lot!

Although, traveling by bus in Mexico is cheap and efficient.

A few suggestions:

Bring a pillow and a light blanket.

For special service; give the bus driver a few peso tip, when you first get aboard.

Rather than purchase a ticket to your final destination (you must then stay on that bus)………..Consider just buying a ticket to the next town or place of interest. The buses on the main routes south leave every hour. So, you can get off, walk around, see the sights, have a beer (or 10) and continue on when you feel like it.

On the few occasions when I must travel by bus I will do my best to wear myself out touring a city. Then get back on the bus and sleep my way to the next stop.

And, for you workaholic gringos who only have the typical 9 day vacation. I understand that you must book a flight so as to use what little time you have to it’s best advantage. But, please remember what I have said about the adventure of driving to Mexico for some time in the future.

Puerto Vallarta is usually the least expensive of all the Mexico destinations. This is less then a 3 hour drive from my playground.

It is possible to fly into Tepic from LAX and Mexico City………….. Expensive.

There is a private Air Taxi located between Tepic and Agua Milpa. They will meet you practically anywhere. These single engine airplanes are also available for sight-seeing and destinations to the East of Agua Milpa.

Really Expensive.
